✖ five songs I've been listening to non-stop

Hey happy Thursday, you lovely lot.
I've been kicking some ass with writing this week (please don't get used to this surreal activity over here, my sick-leave is almost over as tomorrow I'm off to work).

Today, I wanted to share five songs with you I have been listening to way too much lately. The thing is, once I find a song which lyrics I really like (no matter what they're about) I begin to listen to only those songs until I get sick of them or until I find something new that resonates with me on a deeper level. They are not genre or artist related, they are mostly lyrics related. As that's what I pay most attention to when I'm listening to a new song. And that is also why I struggle to enjoy songs that are on top-charts currently, as they have no message in them or story whatsoever. It's just one word repeated bunch of times in music which makes my ears want to take off and move to the Philippines.

I like that you're broken, broken like me. Maybe that makes me a fool. I like that you're lonely, lonely like me. I could be lonely with you.
✖ "Broken" by lovelytheband
This is basically, based on my point of a view, a story about two lonely people who connect even though they're from different worlds. The storyteller in this one isn't feeling comfortable in the place he is with her, however, she makes him feel comfortable by just being there. And that's such a beautiful story about love, being broken and finding the connection with someone who is like you. Isn't that what life is pretty much about?
But maybe it's the worst in me, that's bringing up the worst in you. I know we can fix these kinks, but the worst in me doesn't want to work on things. But the best in me wants to love you, but the worst in me doesn't want to.
✖ "Worst In Me" by Julia Michaels
This is a story about love which is lost. A story about two people who are scared of fixing things, when they're broken. It's like the storyteller has given up on trying, and you know, you give up on trying when you think you've tried all you possibly can. Then get used to the situation. It's kind of a sad story. However, she's not ready to lose him and she'll be ready to work things out if he's willing to put his own effort in.
Let's say we up and left this town, and turned our future upside down. We'll make pretend that you and me, lived ever after happily.
✖ "House Of Gold" by 21piløts
I'm a huge fan of Twentyone Pilots even though their lyrics are a bit dark at times. Considering that I listen to quite melancholic songs most of the time, it's no surprise there is a song from them on this list. Sometimes I wonder if I was happier if I resonated better with more positive music? However, life is too short not to listen to the songs that you don't enjoy.
Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose. Nothing, don't mean nothing, hon, if it ain't free, no no. And feeling good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues. You know, feeling good was good enough for me, good enough for me and my Bobby McGee.
✖ "Me and Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin
There come times when I'm obsessed with the artist behind the songs. Lately, those two artists I've been obsessed with are Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse. I don't know if my body is planning to die for an overdose (on caffeine, I don't do heroin or drink enough alcohol to kill myself with it) at the age of 27 like these two or what is going on and why I'm listening to these two artists non-stop on my Spotify.
Mama said don't give up, it's a little complicated. All tied up, no more love and I'd hate see you waiting. They say it's all been done but they haven't seen the best of me, so I got one more run and it's going to be a sight to see.
✖  "High Hopes" by Panic! At the Disco
Decided to end this post on a high note (ha-ha) so to say and have something encouraging on this list as well. High Hopes is the one I go to when I need some encouragement with whatever I happen to go through and it's been on my earpods for quite many times now.

What have you been listening to lately? What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?
I was thinking about creating a series on songs I'll share with you guys weekly, the ones I've been listening to a lot and the ones I've recently discovered. How would that sound? I'd say that could be kind of a cool idea!

  3. I laughed when you said you listened to songs till you're sick of them - I do exactly the same thing, I'm so annoying haha. I also LOVE that you included Me and Bobby McGee, it's one of my favourite songs and it always puts me in a good mood when I sing along with it! I need to check out your first two choices as I've not heard them before :)
